ILC, the UK’s specialist think tank on the impact of longevity on society will be holding an expert roundtable to discuss the findings of our new report on ageism and breast cancer.

In this report we examine the evidence around the experiences of older women with breast cancer, placing data from England in the context of wider evidence from Europe and beyond, offering fresh insight into the impact of ageist assumptions and stereotypes on the service provision of older women with breast cancer.

The report considers the impact of legislation on age discrimination and subsequent initiatives designed to address the differences in outcomes observed between different age groups, and considers what remaining action is needed to ensure that older women with breast cancer are not affected by age discrimination.

This small roundtable discussion will bring together a group of expert stakeholders from across sectors and offer an opportunity to debate our findings, and consider their implications for policy and practice.
