Webinar: Work in progress – Planning the future of work for a post-pandemic world

Date: Thursday, 28 May 2020
Time: 2.00pm – 3.30pm BST (9.00am – 10.30am EDT)

Like much of society, the labour market has seen a range of fundamental shifts through the first decades of the 21st century. The nature of work and the workplace have faced transformational forces with respect to the development of technology, the demographic shift of an ageing population, and the emergence of new roles and relationships between workers and employers such as the gig economy.

In light of the current crisis, the coronavirus pandemic has underscored the need for rules to be revisited and reinvented so that the challenges of the past are overcome to create a more equitable, sustainable, and prosperous economy. This webinar reflected on such challenges and highlighted the ways that businesses have adapted to them. It also reflected on areas of progress as well as stagnation in order to identify strategies, approaches, and tools to optimise how the future of work – as we emerge through the coronavirus pandemic – should be built.

Speakers included:

  • Yvonne Sonsino, Global Co-Leader Next Stage, Mercer
  • Sarah Heyworth. CEO, Local Treasures
  • Alistair McQueen, Head of Savings and Retirement, Aviva
  • Dr Brian Beach, Senior Research Fellow, ILC
