Webinar: Die to let? The health impacts of renting while ageing
Time: 2.00pm – 3.30pm BST (9.00am – 10.30am EDT)
Privately renting a property is often the only option for those who do not own a home – but the private rental sector alone cannot meet the needs of our growing older population. Almost a quarter of a million older renters (nearly three in ten) do not live in decent housing, and they may need modifications to enable independence and healthy living in later life. This is a rapidly emerging issue that could affect any of us, at any time.
Key issues for discussion in this webinar included the short, medium and long term implications of the shift into the private rental sector in the context of population ageing, the challenges being faced through privately renting, and the perceived benefits of renting while ageing.
This webinar featured key perspectives on this topic from experts including:
- Dr Anna Dixon, Chief Executive, Centre for Ageing Better
- Lord Richard Best OBE, Co-Chair, APPG on Housing and Care for Older People
- Sue Adams OBE, Chief Executive Officer, Care and Repair England
