We are recruiting for a Summer Intern

We are seeking a 3-month full-time summer intern to join our small, passionate and productive team.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication, written and organisational skills who will be excited about working on one of the most important public policy issues facing society.

The ILC is the UK’s specialist think tank on the impact of longevity on society. That doesn’t mean we’re just about protecting and promoting the interests and needs of older people. Because longevity will impact everyone. We believe society has to adapt now so we and future generations can all enjoy the benefits of longevity.

We work with central government, local government, the private sector, the charity sector, and professional and academic associations to provoke conversations and pioneer solutions for a society where everyone can thrive.

This role would be an introduction into the inner workings of a small think tank offering mixed opportunities to work across the team. One day you might be helping to write reports and press releases, the next you might be helping to organise an event and the next you might be contacting global experts and politicians.

As our summer intern, you will be:

  • supporting our summer events and preparing for our autumn event schedule, including our annual Future of Ageing conference, by developing speaker and delegate invitations, preparing chair and speaker briefings and liaising with venues,
  • smoothly administering online and hybrid events using Zoom and/or Teams,
  • working with our policy team to drive our messages forward to the right people at the right time by preparing and sending tweets and mailouts,
  • supporting our Delivering prevention in an ageing world project by conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis,
  • assisting with proposal project management, and helping to identify potential funders,
  • helping to keep the ILC-Global Alliance website updated and the ILC-UK database clean (full training will be given),

As the ideal candidate you will have:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK politics and policy
  • Experience of quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis
  • Good IT and tech skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills, managing competing deadlines and balancing short- and long-term tasks

Salary: London Living Wage

Start date: As soon as possible

Contract length: 3 months

Hours: 35 hours p/w

Location: We are a hybrid organisation and most of our staff work some time in the office and some time remotely.

Because most of our audiences and funders are based in London, there will be a strong case for the successful candidate being London-based/accessible. We therefore anticipate that the normal place of work will be at the ILC office in Vauxhall, London.

How to apply

Send a one-page cover letter and max two-page CV to the Head of Operations at recruitment@ilcuk.org.uk as soon as possible.

This campaign does not have a set closing or interview date as we will invite suitable candidates to interview as and when applications are received.
