ILC are delighted to invite you to join our Partners at a discussion about the Government’s industrial strategy with Charlotte Bright, Deputy Director at Department for Health and Social Care, Eric Kihlstrom, Interim Director of Healthy Ageing Industry Strategy Challenge Fund and Ben Franklin Assistant Director of Research and Policy, ILC.
Charlotte and Eric will discuss the Government’s plans on health in the context of the industrial strategy. Ben Franklin will present on the economic challenges and opportunities of rising longevity, highlighting the economic imperative to compress morbidity.
The Government has said that their new funding will seek to “ensure the UK leads the world in healthy ageing”
They have announced:
- New funding to develop new products and services which will help people live in their homes longer, tackle loneliness, and increase independence
- £40 million investment in a new hub for UK Dementia Research Institute
- Funding to support better diagnosis for UK patients through AI and new tech at new regional centres of excellence
- 500,000 Biobank volunteers will see their genome sequenced providing data that will help the UK lead the world in development of tools for early diagnosis and new pioneering therapies
