Between November 2016 to February 2017, the ILC-UK gained national and international coverage for our work on the consumer economy, Defined Benefit pension schemes, longevity, and sexual relationships in later life.

In November, the Sunday Telegraph, the Daily Mail and the Times provided coverage of The Missing £Billions, a report examining the economic cost of failing to adapt the high street to our rapidly ageing society. David Sinclair also provided commentary to the Guardian, the FTAdviser and Pensions-Expert on the Work and Pensions Select Committee’s calls to reassess the triple lock on the state pension. The 2016 Future of Ageing Conference was also mentioned in the Telegraph, and the Sun reported on our event on antimicrobial resistance.

In December, ILC-UK analysis on social care in England was the focus of articles in the Mirror, Local Gov and Care Home.co.uk, and HR magazine reported on comments made by Baroness Sally Greengross on responsible workplaces.

In January, the Guardian reported on the 2016 Future of Ageing Conference, ILC-UK commentary featured in one of the Express front page articles, and our report on Defined Benefit pension schemes received coverage in the FTAdviserthe Guardian, and the Actuary. In February, the 2016 Future of Ageing Conference again received coverage, in the Mirrorthe Daily Mail and the Telegraph, and ILC-UK research on downsizing was cited by Good Housekeepingthe FT, the FT’s US print edition, and Housing Excellence amongst other outlets.

We also received widespread national, and international coverage for an ILC-UK published report on sex and intimate relationships amongst the over 50s. ‘How long will I love you?’ was featured in the Daily Mail, the Telegraph, the Sun, the Expressthe Timesthe Guardian and the Independent; internationally it was covered by BBC RussiaBBC Ukraine, India Today, Kazakhstan’s i-news, and the Nigerian Vanguard. It was also featured on ITV’s Loose Women, BBC Radio 4’s Women’s Hour, and BBC Radio 4’s the News Quiz.
