Health equals wealth: Conservative Party Conference breakfast roundtable
Date: Monday, 4 October 2021
Time: 8.00am (for 8.15am) – 9.30am
Location: EY offices, Manchester
Join our upcoming breakfast roundtable discussion alongside the Conservative Party Conference on the importance of including people of all ages in the post-pandemic recovery.
Damian Green MP will kick off a discussion on how we can best maximise the longevity dividend as we emerge from the global pandemic and build back better.
As society ages, older people are increasingly important consumers, workers, carers and volunteers. In Greater Manchester alone:
- The combined spending power of Greater Manchester’s households aged 65+ is increasing by £280 million each year.
- Yet, Greater Manchester’s 65+ households are currently saving £1.8 billion each year that could be spent within the local economy.
- Making Greater Manchester town centres more accessible and appealing to older consumers could boost high street spending by more than £50 million each year.
ILC research shows that preventing ill health across the life course is key to delivering the longevity dividend. But how can we refocus health on prevention to deliver this return?
